Philip Mazzei promoted American independence through his writings.

He was a physician and a horticulturist. He became a friend of Thomas Jefferson

"  ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL" this famous line in the Declaration of Independence was incorporated from Philip Mazzei's Italian writing.
