Srilankan stamp

Kandyan crown stamp

At the end of 15th century Sinhalese population split into two kingdoms.

The upper country was known as Kingdom of Kandy. And the lower country was known as Kotte.

This crown which is displayed at Colombo National museum is said to be the crown of the last King of Kandy.

The name of the country appears in three different languages, the Sinhalese, Tamil (இலங்கை) and in English.

Kandyan crown in English is printed  at right side border of the stamp.
